![]() The external border of the Masjid Wazir Khan measures 279 Feet by 159 feet with the long axis equivalent to the royal Road which also known as Shahi Guzargah. With the main portal opening onto the Chowk Wazir Khan the mosque is erected on a higher platform. A town also faces by the mosque known as Wazir Khan Chowk or the Chitta Gate. Approximately 260 meters west of the Delhi Gate the Masjid is situated. ![]() Which was the old-style route crossed by the Mughal nobles on the way to their residences at the Lahore Fort. ![]() In the walled city of Lahore the mosque is located along the southern side of Shahi Guzargah which is also known as Royal Road. Since 2009 the mosque have been under the general renovation under the direction of Aga khan Trust for Punjab Government and Culture, from the contribution of German, Norway Governments and the United States. Bearing in mind the most lavishly decorated Mughal age Wazir Khan Mosque is prominent for the complicated faience tile work which is known as Kashi Kari, and also for its interior surfaces which are almost totally overstated with elegant Mughal age paintings. Shahi Hammam (shahi bath) is also located nearby of the mosque. in the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah-Jahan and the name given to it by its builder Nawab Wazir Khan who at that time was Governor in Lahore until 1639 A.D. Majid was built in 17 th century during 1634-35 A.D. It is on the tentative list of UNESCO world Heritage. ![]()
